Seeking linux help.....
I have previously used suse, fedora core and now settling for ubuntu. currently running ubuntu 10. If I was to upgrade to 10.04 and I have downloaded the package, what is the best way to run the upgrade; I've tried the sudo command with limited access. Do I have to use the RPMs? Please help me log your advice here.....
FYI
I welcome you to my site.
I hope you to share one or two things with me in the things we like and or those we dont. I am interested in using IT accomlish what I want to do. Its not that am lazy, but its that I want to use every resource that am exposed to, to simplify my life and that of those around me.
My interest in IT is centred in DBMSs which am sure are a requirement for any group or people whose use recurrent data in their everyday chores. Your personal interest might not be this but have you already chosen your subject of interest? I hope so.
About me.......
I am a young male hailing from the Central district of Mukono, at Kibali-Ngogwe with strong ambitions and zeal to succeed in keeping organizations springing to heights using IT in their activities. I possess a degree in Business Computing and multiple skills in various computer applications: suited for various business needs.
I have worked out these skills, serving with Infocom Uganda, UWA and currently imparting these skills to fellow youngsters at the Management Training and Advisory centre - MTAC in Nakawa. Through this practice, I have gained a practitioner’s exposure to ideas and knowledge in networking and office network management systems. I am currently taking online classes – getting to know Linux systems better and taking on personal study in epi Info, a statistical analysis tool.
Lost at Step One.....
For a fact friends, I am not what I have ever dreamt of being. Through all my childhood, I never thought I would end up in love with IT or even become a Domestic tax Officer anywhere. These are occupations(call them professions, whatever suits you), that have never crossed my mind ever.
From when I was a child, I knew of professions like medicine, aviation, architecture engineering and some other olden professions of the sort. Check it out in the first primary school you meet on your way through any part of Uganda. All the answers the kids will give you shall be a mere inch from my 2 decades a year thoughts and aspirations.
This has not elduded the secondary school levels too. The interview of most excellent students in the country shall all tend you into the same circles that I have sought the years over to no success. Anyway my failures won't be Johnny's.
My buddy Bashir can attest to this: He went through a series of terse grillings from his dad who querried him on what a Business Computing graduate does? The old man knew one thing, when one goes to University for a Law degree, He comes out a Lawyer, Go in for an Education Degree and come out a Teacher, Go for a Degree in Medicine and come out a Doctor; So what about you a Business Computing Graduate?
Tell me your experience.
